Preparing your wedding budget can seem like an easy task at first. Flowers, cake, DJ, catering, decor, and that about covers it. Not exactly. We have compiled 4 key questions that will identify spots in your budget you might be missing…
Who is coordinating all the details before and during your big day?
You might be considering a family member being your “day of coordinator” to cut down your wedding budget. Planners can be expensive, after all. However, hiring a coordinator or full-time planner will alleviate added stress by knowing that you have a professional whose entire job is making sure your day goes smoothly. Additionally, the last thing you want is a family member missing key moments of your wedding day to take care of things a coordinator would do for you.
Who is providing your dinnerware and glassware?
This is a small, but crucial detail. Most couples don’t think about this until later in the planning process when they’ve already booked plenty of vendors. This is yet another added expense (usually close to $800 for 100 guests) that will cause your wedding budget to take an unexpected hit. As you begin budgeting, make sure you don’t forget to account for your dinnerware and glassware and consider finding a venue that includes it in their cost to cut down on rental fees!
Who is cutting and serving the cake?
Couple usually remember their wedding cake when compiling their wedding budget. BUT, often they miss the consideration of cake-cutting service. You might be thinking that this is something a family member can take care of, but catering companies don’t typically have space in the kitchen. Furthermore, having a family member do this can result in uneven cake slices and therefore not enough cake slices! Make sure to discuss cake-cutting service with your catering company and whether this is already banked into the price or something you need to add on.

Are your napkins and linens included?
There are a lot of logistics behind this that can affect your wedding budget. First, are these included through your venue? If so, that saves you a ton of time and money. Prepping linens is time-consuming with how much work goes into steaming them. Renting linens can also be close to $1,000. On top of the added labor, it can significantly cheaper and easier if you get them through your venue.
